Having opened up for DEEP MEDi MUSIK at Outlook Festival 2019 and playing her debut set in London for DEEP MEDi at Corsica Studios, Manchester based 140s selectress Melissa is making a respected name for herself in the dubstep scene.
Known for her selection of dub-influenced, deep and melodic dubstep, Melissa has been a regular on the airwaves with sets on Rinse FM, Subtle FM and Sub FM, and often plays shows and live streams for local promoters including Hit & Run, The Wasted Kollective and Bloc2Bloc. She has supported some of the scene’s most notable veterans and talent including Caspa, Commodo, Egoless, Hatcha, Joker, Kahn, Khiva, Sir Spyro, Ternion Sound, Youngsta and more.
Melissa uses her social media platforms to support new and upcoming producers and record labels, and combines their forward-thinking musical influences with selections of old-school, classical dubstep in her carefully curated mixes. When asked what type of music inspires her, she said: “Bass heavy, sound system music. This meme I came across made me laugh, because it sums it up perfectly: I like dubstep but not the American Skrillex kind of dubstep, I mean the OG 2003-2009 British dubstep like Skream, Loefah and DMZ with the deep sub bass and minimal dark atmosphere that was an offshoot of UK garage with influences of dub reggae…”
Her goal is to “spread love and joy in the dubstep community and beyond”.
